The work is a multimedia piece consisting of video and still photographs. ‘Compassion Fatigue’ explores how individuals react to disturbing imagery shown to them on a loop for 18 minutes. It records how their reactions change from the first minute to the last. It explores what our coping mechanisms are, how and when we ‘switch off’, how different people react to the same content, and how the repetitive media cycle fatigues us by overexposing us to this type of horrific imagery over and over again.

The work is supported by the National Association of the Visual Arts through the New South Wales Artists Grant Program and will be present as an exhibition in December/January 2012/2013.

I really believe in this project and know it will open peoples minds and encourage people to look a little deeper into themselves and our society.

Please spread the word!
